See V-Love in The Fresh Fruit Festival! V-Love is a multi-media cabaret play that tells a intertwined personal tales of six women as they make their way through issues ranging from sleepovers and first loves, to glass ceilings and infidelity, using dialogue, song,
dance, spoken word, beatboxing and burlesque to tell its story. The play stars Dr. Gorgeous, a sex columnist and house wife who sidelines as an ecdysiast, her daughter Lily, a dancer navigating a complicated relationship with her childhood best friend, J, who is grappling with her gender identity and tends to express her frustration in song, Ellen, a young businesswoman who has abandoned dreams of art school to pursue her parents’ image of a picture perfect life, and her best friend London, who can’t quite seem to sober up long enough to open the coffee shop she claims has been in the works since the duo was in high school. The Minstrel strums along on her guitar and attempts to chime in with her two cents as the plot unfolds, and Miss North Dakota, a foul mouthed beauty queen and the show’s MC helps navigate through the night. Together, they sing, dance and talk their way through some sticky situations, even enlisting some help from the audience along the way.
The show features NYC Burlesque icon Dr. Lucky, Jasmin Rituper of The Box, Glenys Javier, Camille Travis, Olivia Whelan, Kat Devlin and Scout Durwood. It was written by Lucile Scott, in collaboration with the original cast.
